Vijayawada is an important city of the state Andhra Pradesh which is a state in south India. This wonderful city is situated in a piece of land formed by the delta of the river Krishna. It is around 70 km far from the sea. It was also known as Bezwada in the earlier times. This city has a rich historical relevance of being the mainland of Vishnukundin emperors in ancient time of around fifth or sixth century. Bezwada was also the headquarters of the Chalukya rulers prior to Badami. The name Vijayawada came from Vijaya or the Kanakdurga, the name of the goddess presiding there.
