Vasco Da Gama is 29 km away from Panaji, and situated in its southwest part. It is situated in the western part of Margao. Vasco Da Gama is the busiest port of India.
In 1543, it was annexed by the Portuguese and till independence remained an integral part of their Empire. The port of Mormugao lies 4 km away from the city center. The Goa airport at Dabolim is also same distance away from city center. However, Vasco Da Gama has a big railway terminus. From here, people can travel within Goa or outside. The only attraction of is the city is its Dudhsagar Waterfall. St Andrew Church, which is 400 years old, also attracts tourists coming here and it is situated at the entrance of the city.
