Kumarakom is one place in Kerala that is drenched in scenic beautify. You can come here from fast-paced lives of the metro and get dissolved in the serene and relaxing surroundings.

Kumarakom is replete with coconut and palm tress and paddy. It also has a wide range of flora and fauna….all in all it is a paradise for nature-lovers.

The bird sanctuary here is one of the highlights of the place. Most of the people are involved in agriculture. Kumarakom is basically a cluster of many little islands.

These islands are in Vembanad Lake.

About thirty percent of Kollam is covered by the famed Ashtamudi Lake, making it an entryway to the enchanting backwaters of Kerala.

Thangasseri – This is a seaside village replete with historical evidences in the shape of the remnants of an old Portuguese Fort and the churches that date back to the eighteenth century.

Mayannad – This place is noted for the shrines and temples that dot it.

The most important temple is undoubtedly the Subramanya Temple that is said to have been consecrated by the Sri Sankaracharya, the Hindu philosopher.

Thirumullavaram – This clinches the title of being the best beach spot hands down.

Feel the bracing cool breeze softly caressing you as you bask in the warm rays of the sun. This is also an ideal place for swimming.

Ochira – There is a unique quality about this famous pilgrim center.

The Parabrahma Temple is devoid of any deity or idol and is dedicated to Universal Consciousness. The two chief festivals celebrated here are the Ochira Kali and the Panthrandu Vilakku.

Jatayu Rock – This is a massive rock situated in the Chadaya Mangalam Village. It derives its name from the mythical bird Jatayu mentioned in the epic Ramayana.

The place is ideal for trekking.

Palaruvi Waterfalls – The cascade of pristine waters falling from a height of 300 feet makes for a spectacular sight. The Palaruvi woods is a wonderful picnic spot.
