Karaikudi

The nearest city is Pudukottai. It is known for the number of caves it has. All the caves are well preserved. The cave temple of Kunandar Kovil is very famous. It is about 16 kms away from Pudukottai. It is a very old temple which goes back to the 18th century AD. It is supposed to be built by a chief of the Muttiyar tribe. (710 – 775 A.D.).Earlier, the village was divided into two Vedamalai Kallar  in the North and Tenmalai Kallar in the south. It is connected by buses to Tiruchirapalli and Pudukottai.  The railway stations of Kiranur on the Tiruchi are nearby.
