Kanyakumari

Tamilnadu Excursions Panchappathi are the five sacred places devoted to Lord Shiva. They are all situated within a twenty-kilometer radius. Swamithope is another famour Tamil Temple. Unlike other Hindu temples, this temple follows the non-idolatory system of worship.

6 km from Kanyakumari is the Vattakottai fort, built in 18th century. It gives a breathtaking view of the sea. The Udaygiri Fort, built by King Marthanda Varma is another popular getaway from Kanyakumari. It has a foundry for casting guns and is the site for the King’s European general Captain De Lennoy.

Padmanabhapuram Palace is a grand wooden palace that speaks of the architectural grandeur of the times of Travancore Kings. Also, in the vicinity are Sitharal Jain monuments, Thirunandhikarai cave temple, Thiruparrapu falls, Udayagiri and Olakai Aruvi.
