Chennai

Chennai, the capital city of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu is located very near to the Equator along the Coromodel coast. The Cooum and the Adyar river trisect the city into three distinct sections. Besides, these rivers runs the Buckingham canal parallel to the sea coast, through the entire length of the city. The climate of Chennai is hot and humid throughout the year with respite coming only during the monsoon season when it rains heavily.

The city was formerly known as Madras (earned its name from the Madras presidency of British Raj). It was built from the conglomerate of several villages such as Mylapore, Triplicane, Ezhampur and others. It is one of the four major metropolitan city of India and an active hub of the socio-cultural legacy of Dravidians. It is a perfect allegiance of the ancient traditions and the modern outlook.
