Dharapuram

It is a sleepy village at the foot of the Nilgiris Mountains. It is about 90 Kms from Coimbatore, in the district of Erode.. It is situated on the banks of the river Amaravathi. This is a tributary of Cauvery. One side of it is fairly garlanded by Kodaikkanal Mountain Ranges. This town is residing on the banks of the holy river Amaravathi, a tribute to Cauveri.It has a rich history with the famous Hindu dynasties being a part of it. Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan  are the two names deeply associated with it. The british took over the administration of the state and gave it its present name.
