Panaiji is also famous by another name “Panjim”. Earlier, Old Goa was the capital of Goa but now it is taken by Panaiji .It was ruled by the Portuguese, who left their memories in the form of churches and hill forts. People of Panaiji are very friendly and cooperative. Climate is splendid all around the year, generally warm weather prevails in the city and monsoon gives enjoy not only to locals, but to those also who visit it for fun. After attaining independence, it has developed into the commercial city of the state. The only source of income for the people is tourism.
