Another famous beach of Chennai is Golden Beach. It is also the hub of several socio-cultural activities of the city. Valluvarkottam is a massive auditorium in the heart of the city. It is dedicated to the revered Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. Also, dedicated to the Tamil culture is the Government Museum that was established in 1851. The Nageshwara park, opened to public in 1940 is a very popular picnic spot in the city. Likewise there are several churches and temples to visit.
