The city is blessed with hard working craftsmen. These craftsmen are skilled in making handicrafts, silk weaving, wood carving and making brassware. Tirupati is not only a pilgrimage but also an educational hub. Tirupati is home to a lot of universities like Padmavathi Mahila University and well known Sri Venkateshwara University, Sanskrit Vidyapeeth et al.  Five engineering colleges exist in and around Tirupati.
