Tanjore or Thanjavur as it is traditionally known is quite all connected by means of road, railways and air. The nearest airport is at Trichy, which lies around 65 kms west of tanjore. 

The next closest airport is another temple city, Madurai, which is around 200 kms from tanjore. One can also reach tanjore from Chennai airport which is around 350 kms to the north east.

Orattanad a Maratha chattram, named after Muktambal, one of the queens of Sarfoji II, is situated here. It boasts a chariot shaped architecture and showcases a profusion of religious sculptures in stucco and wood. Manora is the tallest and the most historic monument built by the Tanjore Marathas.The nearest airport is at Trichy (65-km) to Thanjavur. There is a railway junction in Thanjavur. It is well linked with Trichy, Chennai, Madurai and Nagore.
