Chidambaram

The temple town of Chidambaram located around 58 kms to the south of the Union Territory of Pondicherry worships the Lord Shiva in the posture of the Cosmic Dancer. It is in fact one of the few places where Vishnu, the preserver and Shiva, the destroyer are worshipped under one roof. It is also unique in another sense that it is the only temple in which Shiva is represented by an idol rather than the customary lingam. Reaching there is not a problem. It is quite well connected by road and railways. The nearest airport is at Trichy which is around 195 kms away.
