Located at about 9 degrees North of equator, Kanyakumari or Cape Komorin is the southern most tip of India. This is the place where the three massive water bodies: Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean merge into one. It is also the merging point of the Western and the Eastern Ghats. Per the folk lore, one can actually see the three distinct water streams from the watch out rock at Kanyakumari. A mythological legend says that Parvati threw her vermillion in the ocean here in a fit of fury after Lord Shiva had first denied marrying her.
