Ooty, the beautiful hill station is the capital of Nilgiris district. It is in Tamil Nadu, India, and located in the midst of four high hills; Doddabetta, Snowdon, Elk hill and Club Hill It is also known as Udhagamandalam  which means ‘The Queen of hill stations’. The word  Nilgiris itself means "Blue Mountains". In totality, it is a picturesque land of picnic spots. At one time it used to be a popular summer and weekend getaway for the British. Now, it is one of the most popular honeymoon venue and a tourist place. It is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level.
